Diego never heads off on an adventure without his reliable bag, Rescue Pack. With one word, “iActivate!”, Rescue Pack can transform into anything Diego may need. In nearly every adventure, Diego is joined by his 11-year-old, computer savvy sister, Alicia, and a loving group of loyal animal friends including baby Jaguar, and he will encourage everyone involved to use scientific thinking and investigative strategies to help the animal in trouble. Once the animal is located, Diego is quick to provide aide, with Baby Jaguar by his side.

As mentioned earlier, Diego’s younger cousin is the world famous, Dora the Explorer. Diego is only an 8 year old boy but he tackles very adult issues in every episode. None of us are strangers to the frequent news stories about how the rain forests are rapidly being destroyed by very greedy people due to the uncontrolled cutting of the trees, also called the “canopy“. Diego and his sister Alicia actively protect the rain forest and the rainforest animals that call that place their home. In real life, there are many non-profit organizations that dedicate themselves to the preservation and restoration of the world’s rain forests. These organizations work tirelessly to protect the flora & fauna and to educate people around the world about the importance of their cause. Perhaps your child, dressed up as any of the available Diego costumes, will feel a bit more empowered to help protect the rain forest for future generations by talking about Diego and the work he does in every episode. Diego and all the friends that help him are examples of the difference one person can make if they only try.

In the Go Diego Go educational cartoon series, Diego relies upon some very unlikely wild animals for help like Baby Jaguar.  But what about in real life?  Can animals really help us in times of crisis or even during our every day lives?  You betcha, and the first animal that quickly comes to mind is the Dog. Because of their intelligence and amazing sense of smell, Disaster Dogs are used to locate people trapped in fallen buildings and other structures after violent storms and earthquakes.  We often see K9′s used as Police Dogs to find illegal drugs and to help fight crime.  There are Guard Dogs that are trained to protect their owners and their private property from criminals and trespassers.  And we see K9′s used as Service Dogs where they are loyal servants of people that are blind or physically handicapped.  So, while a Baby Jaguar is a wild animal and not able or willing to help people except perhaps in cartoons, the Dog truly is “man’s best friend”.
